Since you and the PO don't know what oil is in there; you WILL feel much
better draining (and walk away as Jim suggested) and refilling with the
correct gear oil. The cost of the oil is a small price to pay for knowing
that the oil is correct and therefore will not be in question should tranny
issues come up in the future.
