I did look more closely at the fine print. The 625 is cca @ 32 degrees
F. You are correct Jim, it is a group 42 battery. The car is a '73 and
I have had some issues with the headlamp switch. I suspect it is
rooted in the amperage draw from the larger load. Exact replacement
switches are likewise harder to find. I have ordered some 60/55 xenon
bulbs, and 2 relays as described on the vwtype3 website.
My thought behind the wire swap was to determine if there was more
resistance or loss on one side or the other. I also thought it might
tell me if there was a physical problem inside the regulator.
I am a member of the Samba forum, and have posted occasionally. The F
I section has been extremely helpful for me. Almost all my questions/
problems had been addressed in earlier postings. I just recently found
this forum. "Even a blind hog occasionally finds an acorn if they keep
looking".
I am aware of the conversion kit sold by the D D B. Having had a very
negative experience with them I'll stick with the generator and lower
wattage lamps.
