[T3] Bosch Starter...

The new starters have rare-earth magnets in them, and they are very brittle.
They will break if you hit them with a hammer. If your starter quits, its
time for a new starter or to rebuild the old one anyway.

Subject: [T3] Bosch Starter...

My brand new, not re-built, Bosch starter has a sticker on starter body, not
on solenoid, saying "Don't hit with hammer", with a little "no" symbol
crossing out a hammer.

Muir book says, if starter sticks, hit SOLENOID with some light hammer taps
to get it going. What's the story here?   Is it really important...Do Not
Hit Starter---Tap Solenoid Instead?

Then...what to do with a Tap-Needing starter?   Too big for a fishing
weight.
