[T3] Generator and Fuel Line Problems

Sad to hear that, but I assume it wasn't actually counterfeit - organised
crime syndicates in a number of countries were notorious for counterfeit
vehicle components a few years back. If genuine, I suppose it could have
been out of date or manufactured to the wrong spec.

I've certainly bought my share of bad cotton braided fuel line - usually the
price gives it away.

I bought a pair of disc-brake hoses from a reputable parts shop and they
only lasted a year before cracking deeply. That's another area where even
VW quality has fallen. The 60s and 70s flexible hydraulic hoses seem to
last 30 years or more - I've not redone any rears yet - but on newer VWs, 10
years seems to be about the limit before they start cracking.

The roll that Russ had was Continental brand hose. IIRC
