[T3] Old Type IIIs

Well, there aren't too many people driving around in a Model T daily user,
so what you fear is going to be the fate of the ultimate Type 3 survivors.
By then I will probably be past driving; maybe even past being a passenger!
When I bought my Variant (Squareback) the passenger sunvisor had a
green-tinted translucent '50s Beetle visor fixed to the bottom of it, for
the 'little old lady' I assume. I doubt Anne will ever become a 'little old
lady', so I probably won't have to refit the visor.

Meanwhile if something breaks, it'll get repaired or replaced. You don't
have to have a new car every 40 years, any more than you need a new spouse
every 40 years, but I think you have to be realistic and expect performance
to drop off a bit as he/she/it ages, never mind yourself!

Luckily we don't have 'lifed' components on a car, so they get changed when
they fail, or marginally before if it's a part that will take something
valuable with it if it fails.

Subject: [T3] Old Type IIIs

Isn't it the case that all Manuals on how to take care of a Type III are
assuming that New Parts are available, and assuming a certain age for
existing parts?

None that I've seen talk about "Are your wires and connections 40 years
old?"...and what to do about that.   What IS the life of a wire or connector
or Control Box or the rest?

How to know which parts, incl wires, connectors, other components, MUST be
replaced after X number of years to be reliable?

Bottom Line:    How to make a 70's T-3 a "New Car"...good for the next 40
years....or next trip to Mexico or the boondocks elsewhere....body problems
aside for now?

Fear is that T-3's will become just Show Cars, trucked to Car Shows,
unreliable for actual use.   That would be a tragedy for one of the most
practical cars ever made.
