Would that be when they switched from single circuit to tandem MCs? 
If so, then it seems odd that early Type 3s didn't also get the early 
pushrod.

I think I've got some early (Type 3?) MC rebuild kits that have a 
different boot. The hole for the pushrod is about twice the diameter.
