[T3] Fuel Hose Clamps

That sounds good but who carries these? I didn't think the dealers carried
much of anything for our cars anymore. I know when I briefly turned wrenches
at a VW dealer back in late 87 early 88 the list was starting to get short.

Dennis:  I tend to favor the original VW band clamps.

Not only are they solid metal (NO "geared" slots in the band) all the way
around the circle, but if you look carefully, you can see that the edges
(around the outside edges) of the circumference have a slight, "outward"
bend to them.  This prevents the edge from "gouging into) the hose when it's
tightened.  Even if it's slightly OVER-TIGHTENED.  Which you should try NOT
to do.

I believe VW engineers provided the correct specs to the vendor who built
these Fuel Hose Band Clamps because it was the right way to manufacturer
them.  I have (mostly) believed that VW knew what they were doing ... with a
few exceptions.
