The boot over the mouth of the MC has a small hole on one side. That
hole is supposed to face down, so that brake fluid can get out if the
first seal starts to leak. I suppose VW thought it was important for
you to perhaps smell the brake fluid and do something about it,
rather than let the fluid just accumulate inside the boot.
It's the hole that lets leaky brake fluid "weep" out.
