[T3] Replacing Starter

Re/ 72 Std. FI.

Starter has stuck a few times in the last month or so.  A few easy taps with the at-hand hammer has got it started each time.

An auto repair shop owner friend had a rebuilt Bosch starter, in storage for years, that ALMOST looks right. 

This starter numbers etc are:   
 729 Bosch   
 001 211 223 - 224
   and 055 911 023 B
Solenoid has SR69X
 
  Bentley's VW numbers for standard shift cars start with 311, of course. This one has 055.
Does that mean it's just not compatible?  If so, what's an 055 911 023 starter for?
