As far as I know, the 111 wasn't  ever sold in the U.S. Like I said 
earlier, I 
looked at pics of beetles for  sale on the Samba, and apparently '68 was 
finger 
opened, '69-'72 was  released from inside, and '73 on were finger operated 
again. 
I couldn't  find any exceptions. They were probably all U.S. cars  though.




All of this talk, got me to look thru my picture archives. My son's  old 72 
Super had a cable release flap. My daughters 73 Super, and my old 76  std 
bug had finger indents. The 73 is still here, so it was just a matter of a  
short walk to double check. Since I don't own a 68 T-3, I couldn't say, as my 
 t-3s are earlier, or later.
