Still not completely done with the headlight issue, but I found the problems and now have working low beam headlights that turn off with the switch. I might have working hi and low beam after I reground the relay housing.

So here are the two problems that I have found so far.....

First the headlight switch was messed up....

That little spring hanging down all twisted is what is left of the rheostat for the dash lights. I had a switch from my 71 Fastback project that I replaced it with. I had to open up the hole in the dash just a bit for the slightly larger retention bezel.

Still had the same symptoms after replacing the switch so I moved n to the main relay for the headlights. It had clearly been repaired at some point as it was sealed up with some goop...

Pretty sure this is my problem. :D I had the headlight relay from my 71 also and swapped it in. It did not have the additional connections for the fog lamps so I just taped those wires over for now. Head lights now work. I think the hi/low beams aren't working because I did not clip the relay back onto the body, so the body of the relay is not grounded. I will do this first thing in the morning, before heading to the Michigan Vintage Festival.

So anyone have a Type 34 Ghia headlight relay?

If I can't find the correct relay, I might just figure out how to hook the foglights and switch up to its own circuit and relay so they can work independent of the headlights. I have an extra 16A fuse and connections that would have been used for the electric sunroof if equipped.
