Could it be the fan welds are failing? (either between the blades or at the hub) When I had the "rocks in a tin can" sound when accelerating that ended up being the problem. The solution was to buy a reconditioned (i.e. rewelded and balanced) fan. Dave Y. 68 sqbk (Still in shop. Two cam lobes and three lifters were toast!)
