Started attending to my punch list on Jill's Ghia. Didn't have a lot of time yesterday, so I just did a few things. I think I added more to the list than I took off. :) . Here is the list so far, in no particular order....

1. Re-install LH headlight ring and seal
2. Get lights working (4 fuses missing, but when installed the lights are all screwed up...going to have to get out the wire diagram and figure out what is going on....I hate electrical issues.)
3. Re-install RH door seal
4. Put proper 90 degree ends on plug wires
5. Properly route plug wires.
6. Adjust brakes
7. DONE Replace timing hole plug
8. Adjust RH door for better gaps and window sealing
9. Install/tighten map pocket elastics
10. Fix LH window channel felt
11. DONE Fix engine cover clamp (replaced engine cover with good one)
12. Fix engine cover seal
13. Relocate fuel filter from on top of engine
14. Replace all soft fuel lines
15. Mount fire extinguisher
16. Add tool kit and tire gauge and shop rags to frunk
17. Change oil
18. Fabricate and install rear window trim gap hider
19. Get some cylindrical pillows for rear seat
20. Replace 20+ year old battery
21. Re-attach heater control cables under rear seat
22. Add bezels for interior door lock pulls
23. DONE Switch to Type 3 nipple hubcaps
24. DONE Check/fill spare tire
25. Check/top off brake fluid
26. Lower nose of car one outer spline
27. Obtain/install hood seal protector for catch
28. DONE Replace engine cover insulation (replaced with good cover)
29. Clean and seal minor rust in spare tire well due to brake fluid
30. Adjust parcel tray for more foot clearance
31. Replace 009 distributor with Type 3 dizzy
32. Check/adjust valves

Lots of little things. Nothing too major except maybe the wiring stuff....really dont like working under there. The dizzy replacement might be more involved if the dizzy drive gear isn't indexed properly. Will see when I pull it.

I have a 71 FI distributor that I am planning to use for this. Good choice?

Only sort of negative surprise so far is that the rebuilt engine that was installed back in 93-94 during the restoration (4-5k miles ago) turns out to be..........a GEX motor! :( Maybe it is a good one. Maybe not. That is the trouble with it...kind of a crap shoot.

I took the day off, so i will see what I can get done today.

Later,
John Jaranson
