[T3] Bosch regulator

I still need to do that, car has been full and I haven't been able to get in
the engine.  The VR works better when warmed up though, worse when cold.

Along those same lines, did you check the field winding resistance? 
If that was low, due to shorted turns, that would require more than 
normal average field current, which would make the solid state VR run 
hotter than usual.
