Yes, I should have said the ones that also fit the Beetle are for the later
Type 3s with the upright heater control levers.  The ones with the
horizontally sliding levers are shorter. 

I suppose a piece of wire could be clamped by the screw, though a tube
soldered to it would make for more certain clamping.  It's easier if you
have a good cable to copy - but wouldn't you just fit that then?

The under floor cables to control the front vents are very hard to find,
being fitted to the later '72 and '73 models only.

I have a 65 Square, and my cables were unique.  I had a very difficult time
finding the right ones last Spring, so I made them from various parts and
pieces.  Eventually got it to work, but it was not easy.
