I'll have to check that kind of abrasive out Keith. Our body instructor has
a better sandblaster so we will see how that goes. The base coat he is
planning to use sounds similar to what you describe but I don't know the
name only it's light gray. He talks like it's good stuff. Talk to my guy at
my FLAPS where our body instructor also gets his stuff. He said it will be
no problem to take the original VW paint coda to get the Clementine Orange
mixed up. Can't wait to see that color fresh again.

MMMmmmm solid front clip!
Here in the North, the bottom drain holes plug up on the front bumper mounts
and the salt gets in thru the top ones and just sits in there wet, unable to

Wash out and they just rot right into the trunk in no time!

As for the sandblasting, you need to use Garnet abasive, fine grade, that
will cut thru the rust, not give as much of a dust problem, and not have the
health hazard of the silica sand.  If your not sure about getting thru all
the rust at the bottom of those pits I use Eastwoods rust reformer as a
basecoat, it gives just a little extra piece of mind and the rust reformer
works itself into the rust better than the POR 15 that simply sits on top
but you DO want to get off all that is humanly possible.  Rust never sleeps!

Nice to see the progress, its gonna be beautiful when you get it done!
