[T3] Rubber Fuel Lines?

Searching...doing homework....but can't find older raps here about Fuel Lines for T-III.

Needed a one foot section today, between filter and pump...and all I had in the house was some 1/4 inch rubber fuel hose.  It fit perfectly.   By the way, I found that a Very Old, but unused, section of braided fuel line leaked like a garden soaker hose.  When I removed it from filter, the inner rubber sleeve separated from the braids.

But are there any cautions regarding rubber compatibility with VW fuel 29 psi pressure?
