[T3] Fan belt

It would probably work, but it's not the right size, and will ride higher in
the V-notch (why it needs to be longer).  Why not get the right one?
There's a Gates one that is often quoted (Keith probably remembers that).
Being in the UK, I would get a Jaguar XJ6 alternator belt, which is 9.5 x
1000.  That is, assuming the two Continental spare belts I got 15 years or
more ago had not still been sitting in my Type 3s as spares!
 
My experience is the same as Jim's - they are very rarely needed.  If the
existing one is in good order, and tensioned correctly, there's no reason to
expect it to fail.  If it's cracking or looks rough, change it before it
inconveniences you.
