There is tons of stuff to do right in the area!
Cave of the Winds
Manitou Cliff Dwellings. Both are right near Garden of the Gods.
Seven Falls and Cheyenne Mtn Zoo are right in the same area. Helen Hunt falls is a nice short hike that is close by as well.
The cog railway is fun and you get some different views from the drive on the way up. But isn't the Pikes Peak Cruise slated for Friday?

There is the Western Museum of Mining and Industry on the north end of town. Or the Ghost town Museum near downtown. Then there is the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Tons of stuff to do in the Springs!
If your up for a bit of a drive there is Canyon City and the Royal Gorge. You can catch the train in Canyon city and see the royal gorge from the bottom, or go directly to the gorge and cross the bridge. Both are good times. The Gold Belt Byway is right by Canyon City. http://www.goldbeltbyway.com/shelf-road-attractionssights Then there is Bishops Castle (kind of amazing what 1 man can build). Or you can head to Cripple Creek for some gambling. Or a little further drive over to Buena Vista and you can see St. Elmo, thats a pretty neat old Ghost Town with well preserved buildings. A car can easliy make it up there.
Denver has some nice attractions as well, like the Aquarium, Museum of Natural History to name a few.
