[T3] Striker Plate

Is there a good reason why the tab can't simply be cut off an early 70's and
the edge tidied up? It has a rubber gasket to hide the edge! I've not
looked at one to see, so apologies if it's not a good idea.
The 72-73 used a striker plate somewhat similar to the door ones - I think
it was an anti-burst system so it didn't open in an accident. Maybe that's
the thinking behind the added tab in the 'A' version.

I was looking at that possibility also. I cannot tell if the rubber was
molded on to the metal tab or not. It appears it was. My 1970's really looks
brand new. Maybe a trip to the parts store in required to see if there is
something out there in rubber that can be utilized.
