[T3] testing engine

i just bought an engine and want to try it out before i put it in my square. it seems to me that all i need is battery and wire to coil and starter, assuming the starter can be just bolted on, as well as a fuel supply. is this too simplistic, just looking for any hints or tips. thanks kk
