My "proto-typer" guy can do the "cast the material directly on to the
existing bare metal", as Jim mentioned.
Now we just have to decide what material to formulate "to withstand
the force of the closing the rear hatch", as Brion noted.

This will be a 2013 summer project, UNLESS I can find a Striker Plate
that is damaged but still has some remnants of the OEM material, still
attached.

Anybody have one to spare?
