Depends on what sender your using, the cheapo senders dont trip the light
till you have NO oil pressure, the german ones will light up at 5PSI. what
oil are you running? If its thin oil just get some 10W40 in there, if its
already 10W40 then your engine is worn, if your running the 25W50 racing oil
with the ZDDP and you have a light the engine is shot.
At 133Kmi I dont have any oil light yet, but Im also using the thicker oil
for the ZDDP.

Subject: [T3] Flickering Oil Light
(Ooops. Sent to wrong address earlier.)
I just did an Engine Transplant from 73 Standard Sqbk to 71 same model.
I used most of the engine components, including muffler and heater
boxes, distributor, throttle switch, injectors, etc from the removed
engine...which had bad end play (and bad rattle) in the crank. Thrust
bearing on the way out.
The "new" engine feels great...like a new
car..BUT...after fifteen or 20 minutes of city driving, the oil light
flickers. Weather not hot. Idle SEEMS just right, but I have no
tester to be sure.
So...question is...could it be that the oil
cooler may be a tad sluggish after sitting in the yard, in the 73 car,
for about 8 or ten years? If so, would that cause oil light flicker?
Or, what else might be suspect?
