Except for the disk brake calipers. I'm guessing that those came 
later, after Ate got more serious about going metric. But that 
doesn't explain why a German company would have needed any urging to 
"go metric."

It may be that hydraulic brakes were a British/American development, 
that got copied, inches and all, by the rest of the world. If you 
look at the inside face of the early rear brake cylinder seals, 
you'll not only see 7/8", but also Ate-Lockheed.
