[T3] Generator ... Again

Most crimpers don't do the double crimp that not only crimps the wire, but also the insulation. To make this double crimp look factory is near impossible and requires the right tool and force. Look how it folds. I have the tool, as find the terminal comes off without the insulation crimped. Keith taught me to solder, so in the future will do that too.

Then there is the fact that brass terminals with the insulation crimp tab are not available. Found them with a single tab, but not double.

Then compare the corrosion of the wire to others. For mine, it is the same. So, wire has not been cut and terminals replaced.

Just thought of something. The harness could be a replacement, but don't think the early models had warning buzzer or the '71 ignition switch.

Just so weird... There are other things, like the blue carpet. I am SO mad at myself for letting the moldyness cause me to toss it (ripped to sheds also). It was a shade lighter than the '72/'73 carpet and can't seem to find it. Found one N.O.S. piece, but that's it. I just hate to put black in, plus no matter what I do, the sunroof leaks. Wish I could get it out to Arizona and get it moth balled proper, but Vater will not move the car that is blocking it in. Guess should just let it go, as type 3s always have something electrical going wrong, and no new body harnesses made for F.I. equipped ones. Guess the Volvo is growing on me for now...

Thank you,
Adriel

Have you compared your crimps to an early '68? If not, how would you
know that they look original?

It's all VW Type 3 production. I suspect that something similar
happened with bugs, too, but I haven't looked into that.
