[T3] Rear View Mirror

It took me forever to figure out how to get mine back in after we put in the
headliner.  It took more force to pop it back in than I thought it would.

I'm trying to fit the rear-view mirror to my 1970 Fastback.
The mirror assembly looks just like this one:

Not having removed or fitted one before, I'm unsure as to how to fit it.
I've tried offering the housing up to the slots in the roof, but it's not
clear to me how the assembly "locks in".
Is there a trick to it?
