Although there are small trailers with emergency only tethered electric brakes, any reasonably large trailer like a two axle U-Haul car hauler will have fully proportional electric brakes. These brakes do need the proper wiring and brake control in your car. New F-150s with trailer towing packages come standard with the electric brake controller built in. Aftermarket ones are readily available.

The trailers with brakes though have them because the trailer is so heavy! Last thing I need is more weight... ;|

I am thinking it could. I looked at tow brackets, and realized it seems they are going off the bumper mounts! It dawned on me I could get a couple 1/4" plates and hardened bolts, bolt them in place of the bumper, drill holes, and bolt the Ready Brake to it. Only concern is stressing something. What do you think? This sure give me and others a lot of options! All this designing is making me feel so good and alive! Been too long...
