It seems like there's a difference of opinion between Jim and Dave,
about what the numbers mean.  Re.build date. ???.

Jim, the Date of Sale to me was September 8, 1969.
In those years, introduction of new car model years was October, wasn't it?

It seems to me,
1)  the "date of birth",
2)  plus shipping across the pond,
3)  Port of Entry off-loading
4)  dealer delivery,
5)  sale to me
is inordinately short, isn't it.
