It should, because the trigger points are still telling the brain 
that the engine is turning. The wire to the starter is mainly for 
extra enrichment while starting, but it also keeps the pump relay 
closed.

In other words, if the brain get a signal from either the starter or 
the trigger points (or both) that the engine is turning over, it will 
keep the pump relay closed.
