Those hoses have an AMAZING amount of cord in them. I've tried 
cutting into some here but haven't been able to see much once I 
hacked thru all the outer layers to get to the inside.

A piece of 1/16" welding rod will slip right thru a new hose, but 
gets stopped short in a bad one. That's one way to get an idea of 
where the bad part is.
