[T3] T3 6V Fuel Gauge near mint

The similar type Camper ones are longer tubes, and the Type 4 also I
believe, as the tanks are a deeper. I guess if they use the same nichrome,
the gauge resistance would simply have to be less for full scale deflection.

Looking at nichrome wire gauges and resistances, they are quite a bit
different. My small reel here (happens to be on my desk awaiting storing)
says 0.081mm. I've a note somewhere saying it's 46 swg 238 ohms/meter. It's
used in some hot-wire devices apparently - I got it through a craft outlet.
I think 44swg and 48swg have substantially different resistances. You need
around 110 ohms total, judging from some good ones, and the gauge uses
around half a metre down and back.

Jim,
Do you happen to know if VDO used the same resistance wire On ALL their
senders, including ones of this type for other cars, Like longer or shorter
versions of ours?

Keith

I now have a supply of replacement resistance wire. So I can replace
the wire, if necessary, when I rebuild the sender.
