Single viscosity oils don't have viscosity enhancers, so you lose that
advantage.

New motor: 10W30 in the summer and winter.
Getting older motor 10W40
100K+mi, 25W50 In the summer and 10W40 in the winter (I don't drive it in
the winter anymore)

The viscosity really depends on just what condition your bearings are in.I
Strongly recommend the racing oils with the ZDDP in them or use the additive
for that, and I DON'T recommend the synthetics. I tried that again last
summer (with an oil filter) and it ran 20 degree's hotter with significantly
lower oil pressure.

Subject: [T3] Oil weight once more

I know this had been covered before, but my uncle who bought my mother's vw
fastback in 1970 and drove it across Texas before it was recalled for some
issue with the side vents ( he says they were retrofitted with pieces that
attached on the side), asked to borrow my car for an outing tomorrow. We
were talking oil, and he questioned what I was using, saying it was too
light. He said I need a single vescosity oil. Now, I'm questioning it all
over again. What oil do you use and why? As soon as I read something,
someone else contradicts it.
