I had the Crate running pretty well, but not quite there
 so I went up one
more jet size (2 total) and was tweaking things out when stuff started going
downhill

I put the previous jets in (one size up) and its awful again
  now maybe
they switched back to the winter blend and moved my cheese, but when Im
heavy into the throttle its just falling on its face.

Couple questions and clarifications, (these are bone stock ’65 carbs)

When your foot is ¾ way to the floor or floored, does it matter AT ALL what
idle jets you have in it or is the mixture entirely dependant on your main
jets at this point?
The idle air compensator adjustments, to they allow more air or more fuel
in? In other words
when you turn them OUT, your making it more lean or
more rich? And does this have ANY effect on heavy or full throttle mixture?

She idles fine, is fine off the line, is great under moderate throttle
accelerations but after that
its flat on its face and chokes and backfires.
It didn’t do this last week

Thanks

Keith
