Ive had my stock FI to 5500, I wouldn't do that again... but it did wind up
there just fine.

I think the red line for a stock engine is about 4500 rpm, but don't 
do that very often or for very long. The D-Jet FI tops out at about 
the same place. If you balance and counterweight the engine, you can 
go to 5000, but the stock FI will stop you before you get there. No 
matter what you do, those high rpms are always hard on any engine.   

I've got a friend here who says that there's almost no stock valve 
train out there that will do much above 3700 without losing 
lubrication. So you can do that for brief spirts, but don't do it for 
sustained periods.
