I was in Arizona almost 40 years ago, be great to return, some very scenic
areas as you state in the North but yea, desert, driving thru the heat again
means timing would be critical, get the salt off the roads here in the north
but not hot yet in the southwest...

Quandry I have is the stock engine in the Square refuses to give up, 141K on
it now and by then, if it lasts, it would be around 150K, thats too much to
drive thru the heat of the mid/southwest, BUT... if the T4 is back in there
by then Ill have the Setrab oil cooler on it and I may be fine temp wise.

Of course, Ill need to get the time to drive cross country again... havent
missed one yet though.

Keith

I am to graduate with a Master's in Architecture Spring of 2016, if all goes
to plan. I was actually thinking a couple days ago that I really need to
make a trip that summer and an Invasion be nice. However, now knowing more
of why I get into road trouble is because of my Autism and hypoglycemia, not
sure it be a good idea to drive the Squareback cross country; it is too
risky for the bodies on board and the Squareback herself. Now seeing a
suggestion of Flagstaff, that be more than ideal! There is a lot to see in
Arizona, especially northern Arizona!

As for host, good luck! I have yet to see another type 3 around here. I
imagine being a host requires many hours of social skills. I am good at
planning, but the former...

Keith, the Southwest is all desert! Though some places that have some
elevation are cooler. So you are right, you would have to go through desert
to get to Arizona. That is also disconcerting for me as my Service Dog does
like her A/C! Why not rebuild the 1600c.c.? Can a large oil cooler be
mounted underneath? Just thoughts...

Thank you so very much!
Adriel
