[T3] Rear torsion replacement

Well, that's what you rally need to get beyond in the VW world, new is
better, your about to find out that most of the "new" parts out there,
especially the rubber stuff is of far inferior quality to the OEM stuff and
not only doesn't it fit properly, but they start to disintegrate the minute
you get the job done. Shocks are a 10 minute job, at best, the torsion bar
adjustments will tie the car up all weekend, I HATED the new bushings I got
and didn't even use all the new ones, they fit horribly.

At over 300Kmi when I did this, the rear suspension was really in fine shape
and it spends a lot of its life hauling heavy loads and trailers on the
highway. I did it because I was doing a total restoration and everything
was apart so I cant offer any real practical advice in doing it when the car
is together other than take a break once in a while and make super sure you
make the same adjustment on both sides to keep it even across the rear.
There is never enough suspension travel in the rear, even at stock height so
once I got it back up I kept the air shocks on it so I could haul the heavy
loads again. If you lower it at all don't even plan on having anyone in the
back seat, their Butt will complain in short order!

Oh, those memories!

Keith

Not tires, shocks bad, looking for swap advice. And I can push the car up
and down really easy. Already spent the money might as well get a fresh new
suspension out of it :)
