[T3] stereo speakers

If you think of driving, to get the best performance out of your engine you
change gear to match the rpm to the hill. To get the best from an audio
system, the impedance of the unit has to match the impedance of the speaker.
Anything else, you're either 'over-revving' the system or 'lugging' it, and
it passes too much current (can burn out) or too little. Either way you get
less power to your speakers.

Using a 4ohm speaker instead of an 8ohm would be a bit like driving
everywhere in 2nd gear!

Does that make sense? I can't think of a better way to explain it without
doing the math(s), and I've forgotten most of that anyway!

Hey guys!  I have the same AM-FM stereo Sapphire radio that Dennis has in my
'73 Fastback.  It sounds terrific with a pair of 6" round speakers that I
have in the kickplates on the side of the front floor. I bought these
fibertglass panels and covered them with carpeting before installing them.
The only hard part was trying to locate 8 ohm speakers which is what the
radio originally called for.  Does anyone know what would happen if we used
4 ohm speakers which are readily available. I don't really understand the
impedance issue.
