[T3] Polarization....

Muir "idiot" book says one "must" polarize if new (or "new"?) Voltage Regular or new (or "new"?) generator installed.   Don't know if this applies to putting in used parts or not.

Polarize is about clamp wire from hot battery terminal to hot generator connection...and another clamp wire between ground at battery and ground at generator.   I guess this is with engine off...and just for a second or so...but dunno.

What does "must" mean?   What effects if that's NOT done?   Damage? Performance?

What if you've been driving for some time without having done that?    Better late than never?
