My '69 Axle Beam "died" from two possible causes.
1.) Being a daily driver in "Rust Belt" Wisconsin from 1969 to 1986, and
2.) (possible) lack of lubrication, in it's later years.

Jim not only showed me the location of the upper grease zerks, but when my
original Axle Beam failed last year, I had a '72 beam that Jonathon Stiles
had graciously sent me that we used to build the Type 3 Base Plate for
towing behind our motor home.

And replacement of an Axle Beam is
1.) not for the "feint of heart"
2.) not for those without the mechanical skills, special tools and
knowledge of the beam "internals", and
3.) not for those without "deep pockets".

Take heed of Jim's advice. Find all 4 of those grease zerks, and lube them
regularly.
