Depending on the year, there are several parts that need to be
removed before you can get the breather box off. The last one is a
sort of sleeve that sticks down inside the "nut". Sometimes those are
stuck, especially if there are a lot of miles on the engine or if it
has been in storage for a long time.

Most of the time you can stick a finger in that sleeve and lift it
out. If that doesn't work, you may need a "persuader" of some kind.
Imagine a very large nail, held in a vise grips, with the head
sticking down. Stick the head down until it hooks under the hole in
the bottom of the sleeve. Now tap the vise grips upwards as you move
the nail around the opening at the bottom. Be careful not to drop the
nail; make sure it is very secure in the vise grips.

That said, it's often very hard to unscrew that "nut" even when you
have good access. They get cemented in there by years of accumulated
baked oil, etc. I'm on my third such tool, having broken each of the
others. It's a good idea to take the breather box off to clean it out
inside, but it's not worth breaking something to do it.
