There are 2 parts on your carbs that get keyed power: the electric 
choke heater and the electromagnetic idle jet. The heater is on the 
left in your photo and the idle (or pilot) jet is sticking out, 
pointing to the lower right.

The pilot jet is just an idle jet that is supposed to shut off 
completely when power is removed. That keeps the engine from 
dieseling after you turn the key off. It's common on carbed European 
cars from this era.
