Subject: [T3] Mufflers

Over an hour of searching for Best Price for a '72 T-3 muffler suggests that
such mufflers don't exist for any price.   How can anyone drive a T-3
without a new muffler every so often?

Can any of the other VW mufflers be adapted if, say, just the long tank part
has rusted away and only that needs replacing?  The connecting ducts never
go bad.  I see that tail pipes, and gasket kits are available.  Sites sell
Installation Kits for a part that don't seem to exist.

PS....Re/ recent post about backfiring and loud exhaust leak noise....when
all was cooled down, a hole was discovered at the muffler bottom seam inside
area.  It wasn't a hole in the engine or blown spark plug or anything.    A
patch kit will take care of that, for now.   Reason for the backfires not
yet determined.  Still, a New Muffler will be needed before long.
