Polarity doesn't matter to horns, so you didn't fry anything. 
Sometimes a hard tap will jiggle something loose, or break thru a bit 
of corrosion to make them work again. The OG ones can be taken apart 
by removing the 8 screws around the perimeter. That may get you 
somewhere, or it may not be fixable.
