[T3] Brake glitch.

Well I got the calipers on monday (last) and they were the "universal" ATEs and not original german. I sent them back and have purchased rebuild kits for the ones I have. ( universal ATEs ) In the process I have new rotors and bearings on each side. The old rotors were legal but without enough material to turn. I replaced the ball joints on the passenger side ( the one that heated up ) as the rubbers boots had failed. I also replaced the outer tie rod ends. I will use the setup as I had it and search for proper calipers. I will also note that I may need to replace the pads every 5000 miles as I suspect the RF caliper had a piston stick as a result of "over extending" and out of alignment.
The universal calipers may be the culprit in our never getting the brakes correct. They seemed to be "off" a little all the time, regardless of what we did.

It was suggested that I swap out the steering knuckles/spindles for the earlier model. 69 thru 71.5. Can someone comment on the suggestion as the 71.5 thru 73 calipers seem to be very rare and earlier ones are available.

I will post when we are back on the road.

Thanks
Tim
