Thanks Brion:

 I only let it sit in the vinegar for a 1 1/2 hours just to see if it would 
clean it a bit . As soon as I  removed it the steel started to tarnish so I 
washed it off with dish soap and rinsed it then placed it in trans fluid of 
the proper type . I don't have access to an ultrasonic unit.
