Hello All,

I fitted a "CB Performance" oil take off adapter plate to my single port 1600 type 3 fast back. Its a half inch alloy plate that fits between the case and the existing oil cooler. It allows oil to flow to a spin on oil filter and then in my application to an external 96 plate external oil cooler. This cooler sits above the gearbox secured to the top body shell. The filter was mounted inside the compartment for ease of changing. I also fitted a small air scoop bolted on to the rear torsion housing to direct air flow towards the cooler while driving.

I have been extremely happy with the result on my recent 2,500 mile trip. With the extra cooling and another one and a half litres of oil to my motor, its a calming situation seeing the motor running well below top temperature (some 10deg cooler) at sixty miles per hour for some 14 hours of solid driving! Outside temp was about 30deg cel.

The standard oil pump handles the extra oil and take off lines nicely.

Of course there is some work in raising the motor tin wear that covers the existing cooler to take the extra height however I was able to do it in a way so its looks very original! i intend to fit separating oil connectors in the lines connecting the cooler/filter so I can easily take out the motor. When time permits I will install a similar plate, hoses etc to my new 1800 twin port for a possible refit to my fastback in the future.

I can give more details should anyone be interested in this conversion.

Regards,

Ross Clarke (Australia)
