When you put the motor back together, you didn't put the lever back
on the gearbox in the right position. You need to let the motor run
and then "park" itself in it's correct stopping position, then loosen
and reposition the lever, in the position where it places the wipers
properly when parked. This position is called out in the Bentley, but
assumes that the motor/gearbox is in the "park" position. When you
put things back together, the position was random, even tho it was
properly parked when you started.

CAUTION!!!!

Do not touch any of this without disconnecting the battery ground
cable. The park switch can catch you by surprise and the linkage is
perfectly capable of taking off a finger. This is not a silly
warning. This is real.
