Thanks Daniel.
It doesn't look or sound any different. The car is still a rusty POS. But it sure drives nice. Directionally stable but very responsive to steering input.
Of course after the Landcruiser, this thing feels like a go-cart. :-) Max Welton http://www.maxwelton2k.net/

Nice work MAX. Can't wait to hear how it drives now. And see some pics or video.

So I thought I would finish this off for anyone here who cares.
Left to right; one of the ISP West bushings I removed, an original from a 71 beam and one of my oil impregnated bronze replacements. Notice how much shorter the ISP bushing is. It's made of delrin I think and a smaller OD than the original that they literally slid most of the way out of the beam when I pulled the trailing links out.

So that's a problem.

For installation I used a 3-lb hammer with this home-made driver.

Even with a wood driver, the ID of the bushings closed up just enough to require some reaming in-situ. I was pleasantly surprised with this adjustable reamer set from Harbor Freight.

Refill of the top tube consumed most of two grease cartridges in my pneumatic grease gun.
Today was alignment day for me at Mike's Frame & Alignment here in Colorado Springs. This is one of those places you dream about finding locally. The guy that started the business doesn't use specs from a database, but really understands the peculiarities of this suspension arrangement (and how it differs from the type1). It's the only place I'll take my aircooled cars.
The car now tracks straight and true with the near-neutral streering response I asked for. Max Welton http://www.maxwelton2k.net/
