It's likely that your tin just needs a little straightening and 
perhaps you need a Bowden tube, the flexible outer housing that you 
think you're missing. If yours is actually gone, there will be very 
little stress on that tin, but the throttle response will suffer.

I think I still have a few decent throttle Bowden tubes.
