Jim,
	How about loos parts in the rea drums I have had clips and springs break in there and the park lever flop over and hit the outside edge of the drum. Parts in there loose or broken can cause quite a racket.

The only things that I can think of that would make a noise like that are:

A bad tire, with a bulge or a slipped belt. You would only see this by spinning the tire while you watch the face of the tread go by. You can't see this from the side or by examing the tread wear.  

A rusty spot on a disk, from sitting parked in one position for a long time. If you've got a stuck piston in one caliper, then that pad won't retract and the disk will tend to rust worse where that pad stays in contact in one place when the car is parked a long time. It seems like water (dew) tends to collect 
there and doesn't dry out.
